The Callisto Protocol comes from Striking Distance Studios and is distributed by its parent Krafton. Lately, new details have been shared about The Callisto Protocol's turn of events and gameplay, with information shared about its connection, or lack thereof, to Krafton's PUBG: Battlegrounds.

It had been unequivocally stated that The Callisto Protocol belonged on PUBG: Battlegrounds' canonical timeline, however it took place 300 years into the future, which would consequently mean that it is in PUBG: Battlegrounds' future as well. Notwithstanding, clarifications have been made since this information has been shared, and maybe this far-flung connection between The Callisto Protocol and PUBG: Battlegrounds has already run its course.

In a post released earlier today, Schofield announces that The Callisto Protocol is really "its own reality, story, and universe." Acknowledging that The Callisto Protocol was recently meant to coincide with the PUBG timeline, it has apparently expanded past any narrative planned operations for this connection to be tangible, and hence it is no more. It is uncertain why this change was made in particular, and abruptly as it appears, yet Schofield states that The Callisto Protocol will "in any case have little treat for fans," which may suggest that PUBG: Battlegrounds Easter eggs may in any case be included.

This decision was perhaps made concerning fan feedback that questioned the connection between the two games. Anyway dark or redundant, the tether between The Callisto Protocol and PUBG: Battlegrounds was likely requested by Krafton and was never intended to be a significant part of The Callisto Protocol's legend anyway. This clean separation as clarified by Schofield proposes that its connection to PUBG: Battlegrounds has done nothing for either IP, and that Schofield wants for it to not be generalized with the likes of the influential battle royale title.

Indeed, fans were concerned with this narrative connection because of the implications it made about The Callisto Protocol's story, and in the event that referring to PUBG: Battlegrounds chiefly would be obligated. This would have arguably disturbed fans' immersion into Schofield's new action-frightfulness IP, yet fans may now either be pleased or displeased with The Callisto Protocol's decision to adopt its own original universe.

New information about The Callisto Protocol has detailed explicit weapons players will have at their disposal, the biophage creatures they will face, and the announcement that actor Josh Duhamel is playing the lead protagonist job of Jacob Lee. More will certainly be announced and flaunted soon as details continue to stir things up around town, especially with demos, screen captures, and other content being displayed for The Callisto Protocol behind shut entryways.
